Studio I

Project: Loft

Client is a 30 year old designer, works three jobs, and has a 2 year old daughter. Has lots of books & artwork and likes to cook & entertain. Needs a flexible space for daughter & office/guest area.

The loft is 1,000 sq. ft. with 18' ceilings and open floor plan. Includes a kitchen, living room, dining room, bathroom, office, guest/sitting room, and loft bedroom & full bath.

Materials and kitchen

The dining and living room are seperated by a wall of wire and dining room features a wall of book shelves.

The guest room is enclosed by an open curved wall and functions as a sitting area until the sofa is pulled out into a bed for guests. A curtain closes off the remaining circle for privacy. The office is open to the rest of the space and adjacent to the bathroom.

The loft bedroom is open to the rest of the space but can be seperated by sliding doors for privacy.

Project: 3 Story Triangle House

Concept: This project was inspired by Georgia O'keffe's 'from the lake' painting. I was drawn to its rich colors, harmonious lines, and because it's different from what she's known to paint. In the space, I used very organic and free flowing lines along with shades of green, blue and purple used in the painting. I wanted the house to look and feel like water with very organic influences.

The first floor features the living area, dining room, and kitchen as well as a large outdoor porch. On the wall over the entertainment center hangs the painting by O'keffe that inspires the design. On the porch are two falling water fountains that add emphasis to the water element of the design.

On the second floor (top) are two bedrooms that each share a bath in the hall. The third floor (bottom) includes a library/study room, bathroom, and small porch.
